This is white water madness in a river that bursts into life with Ben tackling some serious rapids!
The Adrenalin Club provides thrills for people on land, water and in the air across Australia. Many of the adventures they specialise in can be life-changing.
In their early days they specialised in conference, incentive, sales promotion and hospitality programs with a difference. Many people who experienced these wanted to share the excitement with family and friends.
The Club is Australia's largest adrenaline-experience company, with more than 50 experiences to choose from and an average of 20 running every weekend somewhere, ranging from sea kayaking to marlin fishing, mountain biking to driving Formula Ford cars, scuba diving, sky diving and lots in between.
The Gwydir River in northern New South Wales provides unparalleled rapids for size and consistency. It challenges the most seasoned thrillseeker.
Below Copeton Dam, the Gwydir provides large volumes of whitewater for cotton irrigation further west, creating a stretch of grades four and five to test and satisfy the most dedicated adventurer.
The run to Horse Stealers Creek, a distance of 16 kilometres, covers two days. Scenery is dominated by imposing granite boulders, cliffs and pools sculpted by the river.
Rapids such as Double Trouble, Big Mother, Satan's Surf and the Equalizer are long and powerful, spaced by deep pools and cascading waterfalls. In its upper reaches the river twists and plunges through rugged hills and boulder-strewn gullies, dropping dramatically at Real Trouble and Sapphire Falls.
Camp is set up on a clean sandy beach surrounded by dry eucalypts. Large tarpaulins are erected and a permanent toilet block is a short walk away.
Adrenalin Club supplies a minimum of two guides, instruction, rafts, buoyancy vests and helmets, wetsuits and sprayjackets, food and drink. You need to take a sleeping bag, towel, swimmers and clothing. The support vehicle will deliver your belongings to the campsite.
