Bollywood Dancing

What are the origins of Bollywood? Bollywood is the nickname given to the Indian film industry based largely in Bombay. The Bollywood movie industry is massive! It makes up to 800 films a year - twice as many as Hollywood with about 14 million Indian people going to the cinema everyday. Films are made so fast that sometimes actors on set shoot scenes for four different films at a time - using the same actors and the same backgrounds!

Sydney’s first ever courses and workshops in Bollywood Dancing, Farah started this up in March 2004.

She got the idea living in London for 4 months and was dancing full-time. There were Bollywood Dance classes there and realised that she was already a teacher/performer in Hip Hop, Jazz Ballet and Funk - so why not teach another style?

Exciting & unusual blend of modern Indian dance, Bhangra, Arabic and Western jazz, funk and hip hop performed to Bollywood tracks.

This style of dancing is very popular in London due to the fact London has a high population of Indian’s residing there.

Bollywood dancing came about by Indian’s watching western dancers and being heavily influenced by western styles, therefore creating “Bollywood Dancing’.
