When Catriona Rowntree was in
Sydney recently, someone suggested she have a look at the new Sebel Hotel in Surry Hills. Citigate Sebel Sydney has had a $20 million refurbishment and been rebranded as The Sebel Surry Hills Sydney.
The 4.5-star hotel has 270 superior and deluxe rooms, as well as studio and deluxe suites, with all the luxuries expected of a Sebel property. It has a sun-drenched 20m indoor pool for lap swimming, heated spa and sauna, gymnasium and rooftop sundeck where guests can enjoy a coffee with the morning paper or an afternoon drink.
Albies Restaurant & Bar on the first floor has innovative menus for breakfast every day and dinner from Monday to Saturday. If you're heading out to the theatre, enjoy an early dinner and maybe a nightcap when you return.
Townhouse Bar & Restaurant on the ground floor is modern and comfortable and serves traditional pub fare with a modern twist. Great for a business lunch or a casual dinner with friends, the staff creates delicious cocktails and the bar has 12 beers on tap. Walls are adorned with autographed celebrity photographs, which many people will remember from the original Sebel Townhouse in Elizabeth Bay. In its heyday, the Sebel attracted every famous person who came to town, and it had a bar that never closed.
The lobby features a 41,000-litre aquarium, home to 20 Japanese koi.
The location is close to Darling Harbour, Star Casino, the Entertainment Centre and Capital Theatre, Fox Studios, Hordern Pavilion and many more Sydney attractions.
