Five minutes from Maleny in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland is Fountainhead Health Spa. Nestled on a 16 hectare farm, complete with avocado orchard, are eco-style cabins. There are no televisions but there are far more important things, such as a fireplace and a spa.
Plenty of thought has been given to accommodation. The Cuban Fertility Cabin has a double spa on its deck, glass enclosed shower in the orchard, loads of privacy and a queen bedroom.
Casablanca has its own fountain and rock pool as well as a very large spa. It comfortably accommodates up to five, and has a fireplace, and fruit orchards on both sides.
Funky has modern art, lava lamps and fibre optics. There is a huge spa, shower and wood burning fireplace. Its garden has strawberries, peaches and guava growing, along with a patch of native timbers.
The Back Room is furthest from the main centre and has a jazz theme. Set amongst avocado trees it has cool colours and a BB King/Miles Davis influence.
Ned's Shed is an old tin shed meets designed for the modern Australian lifestyle. There's a replica of Ned Kelly's helmet, works by local artists and a Dreamtime Room. There's a double external shower, 1930's lounge and wood burning fireplace.
Starlight is decorated with sketches by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and stars can be seen from every room. There's a double shower in the orchard, a huge deck and a Japanese Umu glass ceiling which can be turned on and off.
The Farmhouse has private guest rooms with shared lounge room, kitchen and bathroom.
Organic food, permaculture and sustainability are the way of life. Even their wines are organic, and their approach to running Fountainhead is different from any other health retreat in the world.
All programs are built around individual requirements and the philosophy is individuality and choice. Choose from health retreats, detox and cleanses, yoga, cooking school, esteem building and sessions dealing with cancer, diabetes, depression and heart disease.
