Kuranda Skyrail

Thursday, November 15, 2007

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway at Kuranda, near Cairns in Far North Queensland, is a world-first in environmental tourism. It spans 7.5 kilometres over the rainforest of one of the earth's most diverse and fascinating areas.

The six-person gondola cabins glide just metres above the tree canopy and passengers are rewarded with sounds, sights and smells found in very few places.

Skyrail has two rainforest mid-stations where you explore the environment from the forest floor on boardwalks, scenic look-outs and at the state-of-the-art Rainforest Interpretation Centre. The Cairns tropical region and Coral Sea provide everlasting visions.

A one-way ride takes around 90 minutes, so you should allow at least 2½ hours for the return journey.

Location

Far North Queensland.

Cost

Skyrail one-way rides are $39 for adults and $19.50 for children. They operate every day from 8:15am to 5:15pm.
